Message from the President
With the creation in 1890 of the first national military battlefield park, Chickamauga and Chattanooga, people throughout our country have come to see the value of preserving the history of their local military struggles. We here in Raymond continue to work at this en- deavor. Through coordinating the help of many in the community, the Friends of Raymond has achieved much in its short fifteen years.
This spring a number of activities, including Park Day, lectures on the Campaign for Vicks- burg, and the dedication of the Raymond Battle- field’s cannon line, are planned for everyone’s education and enjoyment. It is your history and your battlefield, preserved for younger genera- tions, grandparents, and all those in between. Come explore, discover, and enjoy it all!
